Frequently asked questions
General questions
How do I schedule an appointment?
Complete an Appointment Request form. This form gathers all the information we need to verify any insurance benefits and best match you to a therapist who works with the concerns you identify wanting assistance with.
One of our Client Care Coordinators will contact you from 734-682-5544, 734-215-7322, or contact@wisemindpsychology.org based on your selected contact preference within 24 business hours to schedule and prepare you for your appointment. You will have 24 hours to respond and confirm before the appointment is offered to the next referral.
Direct Pay Services & Fees
These are services that do not get billed through insurance.
All direct pay services are charged at the time of booking.
How much do services cost?
Therapy is more than the time you are sitting with a therapist. It is all the training and years of experience leading up to that moment, their ongoing consideration for ways in which they can best help you, ethical and legal requirements we have to maintain for our credentials to continue providing services, and more. You are booking an uninterrupted block of time to improve your life with someone who is best suited to help you navigate the struggles you came in for. It’s a pretty important block of time that does come with a cost, but investing in your healing is a right you have to be the best version of yourself.
For therapy to be the most effective, a time and financial commitment is required. Delaying getting the help you or someone you know needs can also have costly outcomes.
Additionally, therapists in training or provisionally licensed therapists can offer lower rates than more experienced therapists, which may suite your financial needs to allow access to care. We make sure to have 1 or more therapists in training at all times to assist in offering reduce fee services, along with maintaining reduced fee spots on each therapist caseload.
*For the fees of specific types of services or therapists, please contact us to receive the most current information.
What methods of payment are accepted?
What if you don't accept my insurance?
Depending on reimbursement rates, geographic location, needs in the area, and other factors, we have chosen to only accept the insurances listed above. If we do not accept your insurance, we are considered Out of Network (OON) with your insurance plan. We DO NOT bill for out of network services; however, we can provide you with a specialized medical receipt called a superbill that you can submit to your insurance. In these circumstances, you pay our full fee and attempt to have your health insurance plan reimburse you. Wise Mind is not involved in the process or how your insurance company chooses to reimburse.
Reimbursify is an app that makes it easy to submit these receipts to your insurance. You can find more information at https://reimbursify.com/

What if I need to cancel, reschedule, or do not attend a scheduled appointment?
Wise Mind has a 24-hour cancellation policy.
If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment with your therapist, please contact your therapist directly at their provided contact information or by replying to the First Appointment email that they are copied on at least 24 hours or more before the scheduled appointment to avoid being charged for the session.
When we schedule your appointment, we are blocking out our time to be available to do our work together. To respect your therapist’s time and preparation for session, any late cancellation or missed appointment will result in your card on file being charged for the full cost of the session regardless of the reason for cancellation. This helps to maintain boundaries, respect, and deincentivize missed appointments. A pattern of missed or late canceled appointments may result in termination from treatment.
What if I have other questions I need help with?
Please call the office at 734-682-5544 or email us at contact@wisemindpsychology.org.
What can I expect at my initial therapy appointment?
The initial session is a 2-hour evaluation to determine goodness of fit between your needs and my services. If it feels like a good fit, we will review options for scheduling future sessions.
Why intensives?
Sometimes the traditional one-hour per week therapy session just doesn’t cut it or it is not a convenient option.
Here’s some reasons you might consider doing an intensive:
- Work and/or family schedules
- Distance
- Time is of the essence
- Readiness to do the work
- Opening up about challenging experiences might take some time for you in order to feel comfortable enough to do the work
Why don’t you take insurance?
Insurance companies place time, cost, and treatment limitations that interfere with my preferred methods of providing care and working on more intensive issues for more extended therapy sessions. Insurance companies also have access to your records, can deny care, and require me to diagnosis you with a mental health condition in order to treat you.

How do I pay?
Payment is securely obtained at the time of booking. An active credit card must on file at all times. The card will be charged at the time of all future bookings. If a card is declined, you will be contacted and the appointment will not be booked until payment is secured. American Express, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover are accepted.
What is the cancelation policy?
Because of the preparation and amount of time reserved for these sessions, the full payment is due at the time of booking and is not refundable if canceled or rescheduled.
Do you have a waitlist?
Because of the intensity and time dedicated to these services, I only work with a few clients at time and do often have a waitlist. Please contact me for availability.
