Frequently Asked Questions

How much do services cost?

Therapy is more than the time you are sitting with a therapist. It is all the training and years of experience leading up to that moment, their ongoing consideration for ways in which they can best help you, ethical and legal requirements we have to maintain for our credentials to continue providing services, and more. You are booking an uninterrupted block of time to improve your life with someone who is best suited to help you navigate the struggles you came in for. It’s a pretty important block of time that does come with a cost, but investing in your healing is a right you have to be the best version of yourself.

For therapy to be the most effective, a time and financial commitment is required. Delaying getting the help you or someone you know needs can also have costly outcomes.

Additionally, therapists in training or provisionally licensed therapists can offer lower rates than more experienced therapists, which may suite your financial needs to allow access to care. We make sure to have 1 or more therapists in training at all times to assist in offering reduce fee services, along with maintaining reduced fee spots on each therapist caseload.

What methods of payment are accepted?

Visa, Mastercard, American Express, HSA, FSA, and Insurance. All currently accepted insurance are listed on the Appointment Request Form on the Appointments tab.

Insurance Benefit Verification Disclaimer: If you are using insurance, the cost of services and type of services allowed is entirely determined by YOUR insurance company. At times, they provide incorrect information or change the expectations of cost sharing. This is a limitation of relying on a health insurance plan for care. While we try to be as accurate as possible when verifying benefits, you are responsible for being aware of the parameters of your insurance coverage. The information we obtain is an estimate as of the day the benefits were checked and is limited to what your insurance company provides to us. Your fees may change depending on your eligibility and benefits during the date of your appointments. At times, your insurance may take a long time to process your claims, which may result you in being charged for many sessions at once. We bill your insurance as a courtesy to you. At any time, you can choose not to use your insurance and pay out of pocket to limit the inconsistencies that insurance billing can create. You are encouraged to call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask your member representative about your mental health outpatient office visit benefits. Insurance companies can limit the number of appointments per year and the services covered, among other things.
Do You Accept Insurance?

No. Insurance companies place numerous time, cost, diagnosis, + treatment limitations, as well as many administrative burdens that interfere with our ability to provide effective care the way that makes most sense for YOU. We choose to spend our time doing the life changing work, not working for insurance companies.

How Does Payment Work?

We are a completely direct pay practice, meaning that we do not work with insurance companies in any way. We can provide you a receipt of services and payment that you can submit to your insurance company to attend reimbursement. Services costs are charged in full at the time of booking to reserve the appointment time.

An active debit or credit card must be on file at all times (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover). You may also utilize an HSA or FSA card.

We reserve your appointment time just for you. By carefully limiting the number of clients we work with at any given time, it allows us to serve you best. We take your investment seriously and do quite a bit of behind the scenes work outside of our appointment times to maintain our expertise, prepare for sessions, and show up fully engaged and ready to do the work with you. Given this, refunds are not provided for missed services regardless of the reason.

What Can I Expect at My First Appointment?

We will collaboratively engage in an evaluation to determine the goodness of fit between your needs and our services. If it feels like a good fit, we will review options for scheduling future sessions. If, not we will work with you to find a suitable referral.

What is the No Surprises Act & a Good Faith Estimate?

In compliance with the No Surprises Act that went into effect January 1, 2022, all healthcare providers are required to notify clients of their Federal rights and protections against potential “surprise billing.” It is difficult to determine the true length of treatment for mental health care and each client has a right to decide how long they would like to participate in services. If you would like an estimated breakdown of services and costs, please request so in writing to contact@wisemindpllc.com.
